Joanne DeCaro Afornalli is an event and portrait photographer, with a love of documentary-style people photography. Joanne studied visualjournalism at Brooks Institute of Photography, taking courses in both photojournalism and videography. While still in college, Joanne worked as a photo editor and event photographer for Artist Interviews Magazine. After Brooks, Joanne lived in Rome, Italy for five years. There she had the opportunity to work with young European fashion designers on their new lines; many of whom have gone on to work for some of the major fashion houses of the world. Over the years she has photographed a variety of events, ranging from film festivals, weddings, and conferences to the red carpet. She has been a staff photographer at Los Angeles-based publications, such as Canyon News, a local paper covering the west side of Los Angeles, and ARTE! magazine, a publication focused on Chicano culture. She has had the honor of working with the City of Los Angeles Mayor’s Office and the Los Angeles Dodgers. Most recently, Joanne worked at the magazine Marie Claire, and then served as the head photographer and videographer for the Governor of Massachusetts.
